Open Question: Do you ever watch your cat torture and kill mice and rats?

It's kind of brutal. My girlfriend adopted a gigantic Maine Coon mix from a pound, and he slays everything from gophers to rabbits. I saw him batting around a half-dead rat once, and it was fascinating. The rat would play dead in an attempt to get the cat to lose interest. But the cat would slap the rat with its huge paw, and then the rat would try to run away. But the cat would grab the rat in its mouth, and the rat would instinctively freeze up in terror.
